I am doing a Super Shock treatment as we speak with what I had in the house because I decided that today was the day and I am not able to get to the store.
Specifically, this means use of 2 gals. of organic distilled white vinegar and iodized salt.
For next time I will definitely have cheap vinegar on hand.
My question is: is it ok to use iodized salt or should I get a regular kind for the future?

You can use any kind of salt. Whichever is cheaper.
It is Simple: Follow the plan.
Step One: Clean the smelly detergent/biofilm gunk build up in the washer with our Super Shock procedure. (It may take multiple shocks depending on the contamination level. See the Super Shock page for abundant details).
Whether you purchase TechnoFresh or not, consider replacing the commercial caustic chemical shocks with the vinegar and salt Super Shock to reduce the damage to your machine.
Step Two: Now that the Super Shock has cleaned the machine, never use more than one ounce of detergent (liquid or powder) per wash load.
Step Three: TechnoFresh regular use suppresses the smelly growth from returning. (half ounce in first and last loads of the week, the larger the load the better. Temp does not matter. See TechnoFresh Instructions page for details)

Thank you so much! We have been using Techno Fresh for more years than I can remember and I can’t remember when I had a problem with a smelly washer or any of our sweat wicking clothes. One capful goes in the wash for all undergarments from Under Armor, LuLuLemon, etc etc and once every couple of weeks a capful in hot water keep my washing machine clean and fresh. It is wonderful. TechnoFresh is extremely easy to use.
TechnoFresh® is a powder that is added to a few loads every week along with your detergent.
It is not a separate cleaning treatment.
It is extra easy.
You just toss a half ounce or so into the empty drum with most (but not all) going through the holes before you add your laundry. Don’t worry about about how much goes though the holes. No Worries! The way TechnoFresh works, it all works out on average.

How Does TechnoFresh Work?
People are correctly concerned with using tablets or packets containing strong acids and caustic chemicals for cleaning the machine. These hazardous chemicals clean quickly (but not always effectively) using a separate cleaning cycle. Over time, these chemicals can damage the spider bracket that attaches the drum to the motor shaft. See Shocking Spiders page of more info.
TechnoFresh uses safe materials that act slowly.
The TechnoFresh ingredients build a shield on the detergent build-up to block the contamination in the first place.

I had to send this email to thank you for helping me remove the smell from my washer. We live near the beach and I assumed that it was inevitable that my washer and towels would always smell. I even went out and purchased a new top loading machine and got rid of my front loader thinking I would not have odor issues. Wrong!
